Modern Observance of Easter:

• People go to Easter Sunday church services.
• The Easter bunny comes to children's home early in the morning while they are sleeping and leaves Easter baskets filled with goodies. The rabbit symbolizes new life and rebirth.
• Eggs are colored and hidden and children hunt for the Easter eggs. Eggs are a symbol of the new life that returns to nature at Easter.
• Often extended family gets together for a special meal.

Lent, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Good Friday Facts

• Lent
  Begins on Ash Wednesday
  A period of 40 days before Easter (Sundays do not count). Tradition is fasting in order to imitate the fast of Jesus Christ after his baptism. Many Christians give up something that is important to them for this period instead of fasting.
• Ash Wednesday
  Lent begins on Ash Wednesday.
  Ash Wednesday is 46 days before Easter Sunday.
• Palm Sunday
  The Sunday before Easter.
  The start of the Holy Week.
  The sixth and final Sunday of Lent.
  The day that Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem where his supporters waved palm fronds.

  The Friday before Easter Sunday
  Observance of Christ's crucifixion on the cross.
