Selecting Filtering Software For Your Family

Finding the Correct Solution for Your Family

Selecting the right kind of filtering or blocking software for your family can be difficult. The software requirement for an eight-year-old will be different than software for an older teen that is adventurous. You will want to protect your preteens from accidently wandering into pornography. You may have to stop your teen from trying to access pornography and hate sites and disabling the filtering software.

Points To Consider

  • The age of your children
  • Are you trying to catch your child in the act of violating rules?
  • Are you trying to stop them from visiting pornography and hate sites?
  • Are you trying to protect them from wandering into pornography by accident?
  • If you are trying to stop them from visiting pornography, are they very technically savvy, where they will be trying to disable the software?

Younger Children
You will want to protect your child by installing filtering software so they don't accidently access pornography. Remember they are only one or two clicks away from seeing something that could be very disturbing to them.

Catching Your Child In The Act Of Violating Rules
If you are worried that your child is involved with a predator or they are visiting pornography or other unacceptable sites you will want to consider installing monitoring software.

The Technically Savvy Teen
Most of the software that is available for older teens that will block them from pornography and hate sites, is hard to over-ride. Keep in mind, that if they are determined they will over-ride the software or if they can't they will access a friend's computer that isn't blocked.
