Help With Word to Create a Great Term Paper with Headings, References, Table of Contents and More

To change the font for the entire document, select the Home tab.
Select Change Styles
Select Fonts.
If the professor has not specified fonts to use, I highly recommend using Arial/Arial or Arial/Times New Roman. Use Arial/Arial if the professor will be reading the document on screen or use Arial/Times New Roman if he or she is reading it in print. Remember you want to make a great impression and make the paper as readable as possible.
You can also change the style set to black and white or many different options.
From the Home tab, you should see Normal, No Spacing, and Heading 1 options in the style area. If you don't, drag the side of the document to increase the window size and it will appear.
If you use the heading options and titles in this area as you create the paper, you will be able to automatically create a table of contents later. To see all the options use the drop down arrow to the right of the heading 1 option.
Setting up your paper with the headings as demonstrated will create a Table of Contents like this:
